Dallas Webcomics Expo Wrapup

Me, Jonathan Caustrita, Kit Lively, and Scott Kurtz

Here are some photos from Dallas Webcomics Expo last weekend. Our organization, Webcomics Advocates sponsored all the panels and organized them. The original plan was for Phil and I to each moderate one panel and I would appear on one panel and that would pretty much be it but we had trouble finding moderators and I ended up moderating three panels, including the one I also appeared on as a panelist.

Scott Kurtz, Hannah Scott, and me

The biggest surprise of the Con for me was when Phil came up to me before our first panel, which was about character and plot development, and told me Scott Kurtz of PvP wanted to be on the panel. So that's how I ended up being on a panel with one of the guys who inspired me to get into webcomics in the first place. If you are ever at a convention and have the chance to see Scott on a panel, definitely go for it. The guy tells hilarious stories and his knowledge of the medium is second to none.

Mike Hankins and Me

Scott was nice enough to do our second panel as well and much fun was had by all. In addition to the panels we had a table to promote Webcomics Advocates, Brax, and Phil's new side project, Kids With Gas Eat Free. While we were at the table we met Bill Hinds, the artist for Tank Mcnamara. It was really cool talking about webcomics and flash animation with one of the true legends of syndicated comics.

Our table

I may have geeked out just a little when I saw my name on our table. I definitely geeked out on the Webcomics Tech panel I appeared on and moderated at the same time. Overall it was a great weekend and I am already looking forward to next year. You can check out some additional pictures at Brax's blog.
